Tips for a Yard Sale

I hosted my first ever yard sale last week. It was a learning experience to say the least. I wanted to share a few of the things I learned, but first some pictures.

1. Advertise well. I thought I did okay, I put up signs (more on that later) days before, I put an advertisement in KSL classifieds, I got the word out on facebook.
2. Make signs large! I didn't think this was a big deal. I made sure that I had an arrow and the date, but they ended up being a little small.
3. put large ticket items at the front of the driveway
4. hang up clothes, people don't like to look through piles.
5. have unique items. We didn't do well because our entire neighborhood has baby clothes and toys. We had a lot of that, too.
6. Keep in mind what your goal is - to get rid of things or to make money. Mine was to get rid of things so I had 3 trucks come at the end of the yard sale and we took everything to charity. My house is clutter free (mostly) and I'm much happier.

Not to get to the Christmas projects and fill up the house again!
